      Teeth Retainers in Dubai

      Orthodontic Retainers

Keep your beautiful smile for a lifetime.

Orthodontic retainers are tailor-made appliances that fit snugly over your teeth. Once you've completed your orthodontic treatment, whether with braces, Invisalign, or eon aligners, retainers are an essential final step to ensure your teeth stay in their new positions for life.

      Do I need retainers?

      Types of Orthodontic Retainers

      Removable Retainers

These are typically clear plastic trays that you wear as instructed by your orthodontist.

      Fixed or Permanent Retainers

These are thin wires bonded to the back of your teeth.

      Proper Care for Your Retainer

How long should I wear my retainer?

Your orthodontist will provide specific instructions on how often and how long you should wear your retainer. A good rule of thumb is to wear your retainer for as long as you want to keep your teeth straight.

Our specialist orthodontists across Jumeirah, Dubai Marina, The Springs, and Uptown Mirdif provide custom retainers—essential for maintaining your beautifully aligned smile and preventing teeth from shifting after orthodontic treatment.

      Retainers FAQs

Orthodontic retainers are custom-made appliances worn after braces, Invisalign, or aligner treatment to hold your teeth in their corrected positions. Once active orthodontic treatment ends, your teeth are vulnerable to gradual shifting — retainers prevent this by maintaining the alignment your treatment achieved.

Most patients wear retainers full-time for the first three to six months after treatment, then transition to night-time wear only. Over time, many patients move to a few nights per week. Your orthodontist will advise the schedule that suits your case — but as a general rule, wear your retainer for as long as you want to keep your teeth straight.

Without consistent retainer wear, teeth can drift back toward their original positions — a process called relapse. This can happen gradually over months or suddenly within a few weeks if wear is abandoned early. If your retainer no longer fits comfortably, see your orthodontist before the gap widens.

A removable retainer — typically a clear plastic tray — can be taken out for eating and cleaning. A fixed retainer is a thin wire bonded permanently to the back of your teeth, invisible from the front, and works passively without any effort on your part. Many patients use both: a fixed wire on the lower teeth and a removable tray for the upper.

Brush your removable retainer gently with a soft toothbrush and water after each use. Soak it in a retainer-cleaning solution at least once a week to prevent bacterial buildup. Avoid hot water, alcohol-based rinses, and bleach — these can warp or degrade the material. Fixed retainers require careful flossing around the wire; a floss threader or interdental brush makes this easier.

A retainer that feels tight or no longer seats fully is a sign that some tooth movement has occurred. Do not force it in. Book an appointment with your orthodontist — in many cases, a short course of corrective treatment or a new retainer can restore your alignment without starting from scratch.

Yes. At Drs. Nicolas & Asp Centers, we can assess your teeth and provide a new or replacement retainer regardless of where your original orthodontic treatment was completed. We will take impressions or a digital scan to ensure a precise fit.

Retainer costs vary depending on the type — removable or fixed — and the clinical assessment required. We recommend scheduling a consultation at any of our four Dubai centers so your orthodontist can advise on the right option for you.
