Risk assessment and management are aimed at unparalleled patient care. The Risk Management team is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of sound risk management. A Quality team has been in place to monitor compliance of all Drs. Nicolas & Asp policies and protocols; performs an environmental inspection on all Drs. Nicolas & Asp branches. International Benchmarking

Over the past 20 years, Drs. Nicolas & Asp Centers have developed a unique set of Clinical Parameters to ensure Continuous Quality Improvement of our Healthcare Delivery Practices.

In this respect, these Internal Parameters have been vigorously benchmarked with an extensive range of Clinical and Performance Indicators set by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHSI) under their Prestigious Evaluation and Quality Improvement Program (EQuIP) in order to address the essential elements of quality care that support premium and safe care delivery to all our patients.

Most importantly, Drs. Nicolas & Asp Centers’ Clinical Practices and Performance Parameters are benchmarked yearly with over 900 International Healthcare Organizations through its ACHSI Collaboration with various Australian and New Zealand medical colleges, associations, societies, health care providers, consumers, the National Centre for Classification in Health (NCCH), Quality Health New Zealand and the Health Services Research Group at the University of Newcastle

This International Collaboration has been further extended to the Renowned Drs. Nicolas & Asp Centers’ Dental Healthcare Quality Parameters which are continuously upgraded and benchmarked through the ACHS Oral Health Clinical Indicator Program in partnership with Key Prestigious Stakeholders such as The Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeons.

Patient rights and responsibilities

Excellence in medical and dental care is not only our mission and commitment, it is our concern. Our entire focus is on your individual health care needs. Our goal is to respect your dignity and choices. Every patient receives equal attention and equal access to all of our services with no discrimination in regard to race, age, sex or disability.

Patient Rights

  • To a safe, considerate and respectful care, provided in a manner consistent with your beliefs.
  • To expect that all communications and records pertaining to your care will be treated as confidential to the extent permitted by law.
  • To know the Clinician responsible for coordinating your care at Drs. Nicolas & Asp Center.
  • To receive complete information about diagnosis, treatment and prognosis from the Clinician, in terms that are easily understood.
  • To receive information necessary for you to give informed consent prior to any procedure or treatment, including a description of the procedure or treatment, any potential risks or benefits, alternatives and cost. Exceptions will be made in the case of an emergency.
  • To communicate a grievance or complaint verbally, by phone at 04 394 7777, or in writing to a staff member, nurse manager, or Patient Relations. Your complaint will be investigated and the appropriate person(s) will respond in a timely manner.
  • To receive appropriate assessment of, and treatment for pain.
  • To refuse treatment to the extent permitted by law and to be informed of the medical consequences of these actions.
  • To be transferred to another clinician or another facility upon request.
  • To expect that Drs. Nicolas & Asp will offer you health services to the best of our ability.
  • To be informed on arrival at an appointment if delays are occurring and to receive an explanation why.

Patient Responsibilities

  • As a patient, you play a vital role in making your care safe by becoming an active, involved and informed member of your health care team.
  • To speak up if you have questions or concerns, and if you don’t understand, ask again. You have the right to know.
  • To be a full partner in your health care experience at Drs. Nicolas & Asp.
  • To report unexpected changes in your condition to your clinician.
  • To provide to the best of your ability, accurate and complete information about your present condition, past illnesses, hospitalizations, medications, and other matters related to your health or your child’s.
  • To follow the treatment plan developed with your clinician. You should express any concerns about your ability to comply with a proposed course of treatment. You are responsible for the outcomes if you refuse treatment or do not follow your care provider’s instructions.
  • To be considerate of other patients, Drs. Nicolas & Asp and their property. You are expected to treat all staff and other patients with courtesy and respect.
  • To meet your financial obligations with no delay. Any payments your insurance company may delay or deny are still your responsibility to settle upon request.
  • To Make and keep appointments or call us when you are unable to do so.
  • To avoid putting other patients and Drs. Nicolas & Asp staff at risk; intentionally or unintentionally; by acting in keeping them from being infected or injured.
